Water meter

A water meter is a measuring device that indicates the volume of water that has flowed through it. Water meters are usually used in commercial transactions, e.g. between supply companies (municipal utilities) and consumers. In this case, the water meters must be calibrated (Measurement and Calibration Act).

It should be possible to disconnect water meters from the rest of the water network by means of an initial shut-off so that the meter can be replaced without any problems.

The water meters may only be replaced or installed by the water supply company or a company authorised by the water supply company.
