Peak flow rate

Flow rate that is decisive for the hydraulic calculation, taking into account the probable simultaneity of water withdrawal during operation (see also Type of use).

With the respective peak flow in the sections, a pipe network load is assumed (calculation model) that only occurs very rarely in reality and then only over a very short period of time (a few minutes).

The peak flow rate must be calculated from the total flow rate in each section, taking into account the utilisation of the building.

The following applies to the calculation of the peak flow rate in accordance with DIN 1988-300:
