Floor installation with ring main and flow splitter

A new type of installation concept combines the basic advantages of ring mains with so-called "flow splitters".

A flow splitter is a pipe fitting with two connections, newly developed by Kemper, which makes it possible to connect a ring main to a distribution pipe. In contrast to a conventional ring main installation, a flow splitter creates a defined pressure difference Δp between the ring main connections during the flow. Due to this pressure difference, a volume flow also flows in the ring line when a tapping valve is actuated in a wet room in the direction of flow downstream of the flow splitter. The volume flow generated in the ring line in this way is referred to as the "induction volume flow".

With a conventional double T-piece connection in the distribution pipe, actuation of the tapping valve would have no effect on the ring main. In this case, the volume flow of cold drinking water would flow past the connections for the ring main without generating a flow in the ring main.
