Nominal diameter

The nominal diameter DN (DN: diameter nominal) is a numerical code for the approximate inside diameter (ID: inside diameter) in mm of a pipe, moulded part or fitting. The actual diameter can deviate from the nominal diameter because it depends on the wall thickness and therefore the outside diameter.
