Wastewater downpipe

A wastewater downpipe is a vertical wastewater pipe that is usually longer than 3.0 metres and drains wastewater. It begins with the uppermost (highest) branch to the connection pipe and ends with the diversion into the collection or underground pipe. It is continued above the uppermost branch for the connection pipe as a ventilation pipe, usually above the roof. The task of both the wastewater and rainwater downpipes is to convey the wastewater through the storeys to the collection or underground pipe in a continuous vertical pipe. Both pipes have to transport wastewater and air and should be routed downwards with as little distortion as possible due to the pressure fluctuations that occur in the downpipe.
